Zebra Technologies introduces solutions to increase retailers' efficiency

Zebra Technologies Corp., a digital solution provider enabling businesses to intelligently connect data, assets and people, says it has released a trio of solutions built for artificial intelligence-enabled modern stores and their warehouse operations.

The Zebra Kiosk System, Zebra’s next-gen Workcloud Actionable Intelligence 7.0 and the ET60W/ET65W Windows rugged tablets (ET6x Windows) are launching at the annual Zone customer conference in Las Vegas and will also be showcased at Zone EMEA, Sept. 25-26, in Birmingham, England, according to a news release.

Zebra Technologies said the Zone event helps retailers make an impact by bringing customers, partners and prospects together to share insights on the challenges and opportunities facing the industry. At Zone, the company said it will also unveil its expanded portfolio of integrated hardware and software solutions. The new offerings leverage AI and machine learning to further advance workflow efficiencies as well as customer and associate experiences in today’s modern store, the release said.

“Our latest solutions elevate the customer experience for the modern store,” said Matthew Guiste, retail industry principal for Zebra Technologies. “The new Zebra Kiosk System brings flexible experiences to customers with self-serve, assisted check-out and even digital signage. Workcloud Actionable Intelligence 7.0 leverages state-of-the-art AI and machine learning to expand data insights and accelerate workflow efficiency. And the ET6x Windows tablets boost worker productivity in back-of-store and retail warehouses.”

Zebra Kiosk System

The Zebra Kiosk System is a comprehensive, modular solution designed to meet consumers’ self-service needs in retail and other industries, according to the release. The KC50 Android Kiosk Computer, available with 15-inch and 22-inch screens, is the heart of the Zebra Kiosk System. With tap-to-pay capability, it offers assisted or self-checkout and information lookup, enabling front-line associates to focus on higher-value tasks to enhance the customer experience, the company said.

Built on Zebra’s Enterprise Android platform with Zebra Mobility DNA, the KC50’s setup, security and management tools align with Zebra’s mobile computers. The Zebra Kiosk System also offers flexibility with versatile deployment and mounting options, and multiple configurations are possible by adding a bar code scanner, payment terminal or TD50 15-inch touch display for a dual-display kiosk experience, the company said.

Zebra Workcloud Actionable Intelligence 7.0

The company said the next generation update of Zebra Workcloud Actionable Intelligence 7.0 features a patent-pending, AI-based analytics platform built for the modern store. Optimized for big data and modern usability with a cloud-native backend, Zebra Workcloud Actionable Intelligence 7.0 is powered by the Google Cloud Platform. Its new serverless query engine delivers speed and performance, according to the release.

The company said version 7.0 enhances efficiency by providing users with a faster and better way to uncover hidden anomalies and opportunities in their data — beyond what’s humanly detectable. Workcloud Actionable Intelligence 7.0 also automates data analysis, task assignment and action verification, and it evaluates every action to streamline workflows and increase productivity.

Zebra ET6x Windows Rugged Tablets

Built on Intel’s latest Core Ultra platform, the ET60W and ET65W extend Zebra’s rugged tablet expertise to Windows-based users across the retail warehouse operations, transportation and logistics, manufacturing, public safety and field service industries, the company said. With a new AI-enabled advanced touchscreen, the ET6x Windows rugged tablet improves accuracy and performance, automatically detecting users’ touch — even with gloves on — and adjusting the display settings for increased productivity and efficiency, according to the release.

The company said AI-powered audio provides better quality and noise suppression so workers can interact with voice-enabled applications, including Zebra Workcloud Communication. The ET60W/ET65W further enhances worker flexibility, converting to a laptop or vehicle-mounted computer, while its new Zebra Control Hub for Windows provides seamless configuration, allowing both workers and IT to access and select tablet settings from a single application, according to the release.

In addition to Zebra’s newest offerings, other solutions being highlighted at the Zone event include Zebra Workcloud Workforce Optimization, Inventory Optimization, Demand Intelligence, and the Enterprise Collaboration Suites, the company said.
