Starting from Thursday, August 8, it will be possible to connect to the Electronic Declaration System (EDS) of the State Revenue Service (VID) using Smart-ID, the tax service reported. It was possible to log in to EDS using Smart-ID before, but then it had to be done through the latvija.lv portal. However, this could cause difficulties if many users tried to log in to the system at the same time. Now, connecting to EDS using Smart-ID will be done directly, which will eliminate technical problems. The scheme is the same as connecting to the Internet bank – you need to click on the Smart-ID icon, enter your personal code and PIN 1 received on your phone. Other authentication methods are also saved at the same time – Internet bank, eID card and secure electronic signature (eParaksts and eParaksts mobile). Currently, more than 99% of all VID services are available electronically through the EDS and EMDAS (electronic processing of customs data) systems.
