Despite the significant decline in demand for wooden houses in the Nordic countries and Germany, the situation is still not comparable to the 2008 crisis, when there was complete silence for a year. The recovery and rebuilding of Ukraine, however, could offer important growth opportunities for wooden house manufacturers, said Alar Anton, head of log and modular house manufacturer Finnlog, in an interview with Äripäev radio, dv.ee reports. The wooden house construction sector has been full of challenges and uncertainty in recent years. Both modular and log house manufacturers have faced a decline in orders, credit problems and rising costs. The sector is experiencing difficulties, but is not in a hopeless situation, Anton noted: “The situation depends a little on the segment in which the company operates. The construction of large apartment buildings is very difficult, as investments are low, but the construction of private houses is more stable. Our situation has not been critical, although there has not been much growth.” Despite the difficulties, the head of Finnlog sees new opportunities in the future. One of the company's major goals is the Ukrainian market, where there is potential demand for wooden houses. Anton has been actively supporting Ukrainians since the beginning of the war and sees great potential in this market. "Today, we have one primary project, for which we have sold eight houses, and the first houses should be sent to Ukraine this year. I believe in this project in the long term," he confirmed.
