The European Union is now a key export market for Ukraine, even despite imposed restrictions on some products. Yes at least this comes from data, which has been published by Deputy Minister of Economy and Taras Duck.
As reports the minister, in 2024 year Ukraine exported to the European Union 14.06 million tons of currency. This is by 1.2 million ton less than in 2023 , but and yes this volume constituted 49.2% of total Ukrainian corn exports.
Similarly wheat. In 2024 year we exported 7.3 million tons, o 0.9 million less. But that still 34% of our total exports of wheat and fold more than we exported before the war (+-1 million ton) – remarked Taras Duck, quoted on breaks Latifundist.
Record exports of sugar from Ukraine
As uboled by Ukrainian minister, due to imposed by Brussels restrictions, Ukraine in the last year sold to the EU by 51% less sugar, than in year 2023 . This means a loss of about 195 million dollars. Despite this total export of Ukrainian sugar was in 2024 year a record – increased by 45% and reached 749 tons. ton. Of which – as Kacz – only 303 thousands ton have not reached the EU.
According branch organization Ukrtsukor from rail Ukraine shipped in 2024 year. to foreign markets 746.3 thousand tonnes of sugar, with a value of 419 million dollars. And this is the highest performance of sugar exports in a year, which has been recorded since the branch statistics. As reports the association, 40% of exports in 2024 year were directed to countries of the European Union (298.5 t. t), 60% was exported to the world market.
Oil is a hit export
The most oriented value for Ukrainian exports to the EU is now -. in the opinion Taras Duck – a decrease in exports of sunflower by 76%. In last year Ukraine exported to the EU only 181 tys. ton of seed sunflower.
O 13% increased however exports of sunflower oil to Europe. And at a factor of 2.87 billion dollars the product is “number 1″ in our exports to the EU. At the same time the share of the EU in our total exports of sunflower oil was 59%” – stated Duck.
So it appears that Ukraine and there has excellent coped with the restrictive EU limits, selling to EUready product instead of
raw material. Demand for sunflower in the native market was so large, that finally the biggest processors had to today transfer to
