- The seed and foliQ fertilizer production plant of Agrii Polska brand foliQ is located in Aleksandrów Kujawski.
- At the end of July this year. we visit the plant complex. On site, we look at how certified seed is produced, starting from the delivery of the collected raw material from seed farms, through its cleaning, dressing, and treating the seeds with seed fertilizer.
- At each stage of production, samples are taken and sent to the laboratory located at the plant.
The Agrii Polska seed plant has been producing Dalgety brand seeds of various crop species for 27 years. These are primarily: winter cereals, spring cereals, winter rapeseed and corn. Sunflower, soybean and lawn grass seeds are also prepared here.
– Looking at the specificity of seed production, winter cereals pose the greatest challenge because they have the highest volume. From the moment of harvesting to sowing, we have 6-8 weeks to prepare very large amounts of seed material – says Paweł Ślęzak, director of the Seed Department of Agria Polska, in an interview with farmer.pl.
However, work on seed material lasts the entire season. This is a process from the moment of sowing the base material on seed plantations, through inspection of these plantations, including field evaluation control, through a number of various quality analyzes performed at many stages of seed preparation. There are also logistical challenges, such as receiving the goods, bringing them to the plant, cleaning, certification, dressing, coating with seed fertilizer, packaging and finally delivering to the customer.

About the specifics of preparing high-quality winter crop seed material
The seed material is tested several times
The plant is supported by a seed laboratory that monitors the quality of the seed produced on site.
– We control the quality of the material at every stage of production. We start the work by checking the collected raw material from seed plantations. The next stage is the inspection of each transport that is to be sent to the cleaning line. Then we perform an analysis after cleaning the material, which is the most important analysis because on its basis we finally issue a laboratory evaluation certificate. The last analysis is performed after dressing the seed material. Therefore, we can say that each batch is analyzed several times before it reaches our clients' farms – says Agata Łosiakowska-Smolińska, Quality Control Manager at Agria Polska.

Seed fertilizer for better seedling vigor
Next to the seed plant, there is a plant producing foliQ brand foliar fertilizers, newly built in 2024 and put into operation.
– Among the many products manufactured here in Aleksandrów Kujawski, we offer multi-ingredient seed fertilizer intended for dressing seed of all species of winter and spring cereals. FoliQ Fessional contains nitrogen, sulfur and a number of microelements, such as boron, copper, iron, manganese and zinc, providing germinating seeds with access to the necessary macro- and microelements from the initial stages of development. By stimulating young seedlings, this fertilizer ensures accelerated and even emergence of plants as well as higher health and resistance to stress factors that prevail in the field during critical periods of growth of young plants – says Kamil Skrobiszewski, director of the Foliar Fertilizers and Biostimulants Department of Agria Polska.

Fertilizers are also under the supervision of laboratory technicians
Not only the seed material is carefully checked at many stages of production. Next to the seed laboratory, a chemical analysis laboratory operates in full synergy.
– Like every product manufactured in Agrii's production plant, FoliQ Fessional is subject to a rigorous quality control procedure. This procedure includes the assessment of physicochemical parameters and the analysis of the exact composition using modern analytical instruments. In addition, we test the compatibility of seed fertilizers with seed dressings, and use a phytotron chamber to examine the impact of the simultaneous use of these two components on plant germination and growth. Thanks to all these activities, we are sure that each fertilizer leaving our plant is characterized by excellent repeatability of composition and stability and will bring measurable effects in our clients' fields – says Dr. Agnieszka Rogowska, head of the Agria Polska Laboratory.
