The "Wine for a medal" competition was held this year for the sixth time. Importers, distributors, producers and stores that select and import wines themselves were invited to participate. In total, approximately 300 products were submitted for jury evaluation as part of this year's decision. In this ranking, ALDI wines won 6 silver medals and 21 bronze medals, thus gaining the most awards among all participants.

– The "Wine for a Medal" competition involves assessing and awarding the best wines available both in stores and restaurants. This is done by a professional jury consisting of, among others: from sommeliers and wine journalists. The wines are tasted blind. They are given points for, for example, the quality of aromas or the balance of taste. The best wines receive medals – gold, silver or bronze – which is a prestigious distinction for producers and helps consumers make difficult choices from among the many available drinks – explains Grzegorz Jach, Vice-President of the Association of Polish Sommeliers.
The awarded ALDI products included drinks from as many as 9 countries and 4 continents – Europe, Africa, Australia and South America. Silver medals were awarded to three red wines and three white wines. Supporters of the first type will find in this list such drinks as, for example, the dry Rioja Reserva wine, which is a blend of the three most popular Spanish grape varieties, or the delicate, exceptionally fruity Primitivo Nero di Troia wine with noticeable notes of red berries and cherries. In turn, lovers of white wines will enjoy, for example, Riesling Dr. wine. Muth – a dry drink from the Rhineland Hesse region. The vineyard from which this wine comes has been owned by the same family since 1604 and is currently run by the 12th generation of the Hirsch/Muth family.
