Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Czesław Siekierski, was asked about the possibility of additional support and help for farmers who suffered during storms, who often lost their property and, in addition, this year's harvest.

The minister emphasized that there are no decisions on this matter yet, they are currently working on determining the losses related to spring's sudden weather phenomena, for which aid was obtained from the EU crisis reserve.

However, he noted that the estimating committees also work on issues related to losses related to drought or storms. – We will decide on this later, when there is complete information from the field. Besides, the second half of the budget is already here. We are already working on the budget for 2025, so we will offer this support depending on the size of these budget losses from next year. There are no decisions, we are conducting talks with the Ministry of Finance and at the government level – explained Minister Siekierski.

Payments in the area of agriculture are in progress

– For now, we are doing what we were supposed to do. By the end of June, we had paid out about 97% of the funds in terms of support under the CAP 2023, drought support, corn subsidies, we are paying grain subsidies, so there is still some support for agriculture, which results from the low profitability in 2023, high production costs, high fertilizer prices, energy prices. This influenced the level of profitability and low profitability of farms.

Will there be special help after the recent storms?

There are no resolutions or decisions yet. This is all under analysis. There were storms, there may be more. There was hail near Jędrzejów and replaced combine harvesters because it threshed the grain – added the minister.
