Why did Tatyana Bakalchuk decide to sell Wildberries?

Почему Татьяна Бакальчук решила продать Wildberries?

The largest online trading platform Wildberries is perceived as a large successful business with an annual turnover of more than 2.5 trillion rubles. However, not everything is so simple, and the owner of the marketplace decided to sell the business without waiting for trouble. The merger of Wildberries with the Russ Outdoor company is officially announced.

According to Wildberries’ reporting for 2023, the profitability of its activities was 3.5%, and its net profit was 19 billion rubles. However, various fines from sellers and pickup point owners amounted to 15 billion rubles. Those. The marketplace earned only 4 billion rubles from trading, which is almost zero compared to revenue.

In the current economic situation, the company is unlikely to increase profitability. In addition, the company has loans of about 100 billion rubles. Experts believe that, understanding the complexity of the situation, Tatyana Bakalchuk decided to sell the business while there is interest in the site.

According to official reports, the goal of the merger with Russ Outdoor is the emergence of a new world-class player “in the financial, media, commercial and industrial sectors of the economy, as well as in the areas of Internet technologies, logistics, retail and advertising.”

Despite this, essentially we are talking about buying Wildberries. It is already known that the marketplace will operate under another legal entity – RVB LLC, where, according to official data, Wildberries will own 65%.

Marketplace sellers have already received messages that these changes will not affect work and will not affect processes. A change of legal entity is a necessary condition for merging the Wildberries business with the business of the Russ group. This will provide Wildberries sellers with even more effective and modern tools for developing their own business.

However, many details of this transaction are still unknown. In addition, Tatyana’s husband, Vladislav Bakalchuk, disputes this deal, arguing that the terms of the agreement are not transparent and we are, in fact, talking about a raider takeover.

In Belarus, the marketplace operates under IMVBRB LLC. In our country, Wildberries has more than 1000 pick-up points, 4 logistics centers and plans to build the largest distribution center on the territory of the Belarusian-Chinese industrial park “Great Stone”.

What will happen to the Belarusian daughter is still unknown.
