The expectations of the agricultural party to close the transport of animals across the Polish German border have appeared just after the first focus of flu in our western neighbor and over time have only silence. As explains Krzysztof Jażdżewski, the issue is not as obvious, as it might seem:
– Law on protection of health of animals and fighting communicable diseases of animals in Article. 48 paragraph. 3 actually provides for the possibility of imposing by the Minister of Agriculture and Development of Village a bans on import of animal or products of animal origin from the State EU in case of explosion in that country of disease, and whose transfer to the country is considered to be very high. In this law the speech is about exclusion of animal transport from all the country or part of it. In this law there is also a warning, that this prohibition must first be informed to member states and the European Commission, after the other such rule is in force until the Commission issues appropriate regulations on the
fighting of this disease and restrictions related to it. Such decision has been voted on 13 January, which
means that the ban would be in practice for two days – Jażdżewski said.

Let’s not forget about regionalization
As added, the voices talking about completely closing the German border to transport of animals from the whole Germany would also revoke the developed many years early intra-EU rules on regionalization of infectious diseases of animals:
– We of course can fight the system
and don’t recognize regionalization, only remember that in such cases the undermining of these principles works in both parties. Our country benefits from
developed solutions e.g. in the case of flu birds, or common disease of poultry- said Krzysztof Jażdżewski.

No country has administratively banned the transport of animals
Expert commented also appearing in public opinion about analogous steps introduced by other countries of the European Union:
– None of the member EU countries has introduced any administrative barriers to trading animals. There are no prohibitions. However, producers from some countries have made guidelines themselves, in which they recognized the import of animals from Germany as very dangerous and decided, that
for the time they would stop the purchase of such animals. This is unfortunately while what does not
be your producers – Jażdżewski said.
