Losses are being counted after the night storms that swept over the country. In Mazovia, up to 190 mm of rain fell in some places.

During the night storm, the Bronisze wholesale market suffered greatly, being almost completely flooded. Not only the halls and the market square were flooded, but also the cars that were on the square.

In some places there was 1.5 m of water on the square, and the firefighters had nowhere to pump it out. 6 fire brigades took part in the operation, and a rescue pontoon was also used.

The heaviest rainfall in 37 years in Bielany!

The nightly downpour over Warsaw brought a huge traffic jam and numerous service interventions. The Warsaw-Bielany meteorological station recorded 119.5 mm of rain in the last 24 hours. The previous record came from 1987, more precisely from June 5, and was 69 mm. So the record was broken almost twice. The record was also broken in Okęcie, where 93.8 mm fell, the previous one was 75.8 mm and came from 2011, more precisely from July 31 – reports the Burze Info channel.

This is not the end of the storms!

Meteorologists warn that this is not the end of stormy weather. Heavy rainfall can also be expected today. IMGW has issued third-degree warnings for several provinces. The warnings concern the Mazowieckie, Podlaskie and Lubelskie provinces, with particular emphasis on the following regions:

  • in the Masovian Voivodeship, in the counties of: Maków, Wołomin, Gostynin, Nowy Dwór, Legionowo, Warsaw West, Warsaw, Pruszków, Grodzisk, Żyrardów, Grójec, Piaseczno, Garwolin, Białobrzegi and Kozienice;
  • in the Lublin Voivodeship, in the counties of Łuków, Radzyń, Biała Podlaska;
  • in the Podlaskie Voivodeship, in the counties of Siemiatycze, Bielsk, Hajnówka.

Second-degree warnings are in force in the Podlaskie Province, except for the northern counties, while first-degree warnings are in force in the Małopolskie and Podkarpackie Provinces.

Additionally, in the Podkarpackie Province, in the counties of: Lubaczów, Przeworsk, Jarosław, Przemyśl, Przemyśl; and also in the province
Lublin, in the following counties: Biłgoraj, Tomaszów, Zamość, Zamość, Hrubieszów, Krasnystaw, Chełm, Chełm, Włodawa; second degree heat warnings are in force.

The levels of warnings issued by IMWM are marked with three colors:

  • Threat level 3 – red. The occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena is predicted to cause very large damage or damage of catastrophic proportions and a threat to life in a large area. Dangerous phenomena will make it impossible to conduct business. The highest caution is recommended, the need for frequent monitoring of messages and the development of the weather situation.
  • Threat level 2 – orange. Dangerous meteorological phenomena are predicted to occur, causing significant material losses and threatening life. Dangerous phenomena significantly limit business activities. Caution is recommended, and there is a need to track messages and the development of the weather situation.
  • Threat level 1 – yellow. Dangerous meteorological phenomena are predicted to occur, which may cause material damage and possible threat to life. Carrying out activities in conditions of exposure to these factors is difficult and dangerous. Caution is recommended, the need to track messages and the development of the weather situation.
