Among Belarusians, bank deposits are most popular among people over 64 years of age. Moreover, most often they are opened by women, and the amount of deposits is higher for men. Deposit sizes can reach several million rubles. This information was shared at Sber Bank based on an analysis of anonymized data from tens of thousands of clients.
The main investors are the older generation: almost every second (47%) is aged 64 years and above. Another 38% of deposit holders are between 46 and 63 years old. Deposit sizes vary from 50 rubles to several million. Most people invest in deposits in Minsk. In second place are the residents of Gomel. And Mogilev closes the top three.
According to Sber Bank statistics, more and more people prefer to use SberBank Online to manage their finances. 51% of deposits in the portfolio structure in Belarusian rubles were made online.
More than 70% of depositors choose long-term deposits in Belarusian rubles for a period of 1 year or more. This is because long-term deposits offer higher interest rates. As for the type of deposit, the majority of depositors (95%) prefer irrevocable deposits, because the profitability on them is much higher than on revocable ones.
The maximum rate on ruble deposits is 13.5% per annum, and in the premium segment it is slightly higher – 13.75%.
