– Polish beekeeping is among the leaders in the European Union in terms of the number of beekeepers, the number of bee trunks and the volume of honey production. The average annual honey production in recent years amounted to 20.5 thousand tons. tone. The record year was 2023 (27.4 thousand tons). The main distribution channel for domestic honey is direct and retail sales, which provide the most favorable prices for beekeepers, constituting approximately 85% of the total production – wrote Michał Kołodziejczak.
Over 11 thousand imported honey in Poland
At the same time, over 11.66 thousand were imported to Poland between January and May 2024. tons of honey (data include shipments both imported and imported to Poland).

Subsidies for beekeepers. How much for one bee colony?
A representative of the Ministry of Agriculture, responding to one of the parliamentary interpellations, stated that on the basis of these provisions, the Strategic Plan for the CAP for 2023-2027 implemented in Poland (PS CAP) included Interventions in the bee products sector, the annual budget of which is over EUR 10 million. . Under this mechanism, beekeepers receive assistance, among others, for rebuilding the bee population, fighting varroa, purchasing beekeeping equipment, analyzing honey and purchasing equipment for migratory farming.
He also said that, apart from the support addressed to beekeepers, under the above-mentioned SP CAP, pursuant to the provisions of the regulation of the Council of Ministers, ARiMR provides financial assistance for the implementation of other tasks resulting from the state policy in the field of agriculture and rural development to entities conducting supervised activities in the field of keeping bees. . The aid rate is PLN 50 per one overwintered bee colony. Currently, such assistance is being implemented, and the budget of this assistance for 2024 amounts to PLN 80 million.
