The straw baling service is no longer as popular as it was a dozen or even a few years ago. Well, in the past, breeding – smaller or larger – was present on almost every farm. Currently, the number of breeding farms has been significantly reduced, and therefore, much fewer producers need straw on their farms. Moreover, a few seasons ago, baling and selling straw was popular – currently, few people decide to trade straw from their own fields. In turn, larger farms also involved in animal production usually have their own balers.

What are the prices for straw baling?
When it comes to ironing prices, they depend on several factors. Of course, the distance from the field is taken into account, but also the area where the service is to be performed. Another key element is whose side provides the net or string. However, it should be noted that some service providers prefer to work with their own net – they usually already have a proven product on which they can "roll" straw best.
Most often, the price of straw baling is around PLN 15 – 25 for a 125 cm bale (sometimes up to PLN 30, although these are rather single estimates). This price includes the net. The most common valuations range around PLN 20 per piece. Lower amounts, in the range of PLN 15 – 20, are found in offers, although considering the high costs of depreciation, as well as the costs of net or string, they appear rather rarely. The cost of pressing straw into "large" cubes is approximately PLN 30 per piece.
Of course, the cost also depends on the degree of compaction. Much depends on the baler – the tonnage of straw will be the same, but less compact bales mean more pieces per hectare.
There are practically no more offers to press straw into "small" cubes. It's more like possible neighborly help. While baling hay into small cubes is still relatively popular, in the case of straw it is very rarely pressed in this way (possibly for own needs, but rarely for services).

How much does straw cost?
So how is straw valued? For straw pressed into "small" cubes we will pay PLN 5 per piece. On advertising portals you can find prices around PLN 50-80 for a 125 cm bale. There are also offers where the straw is valued at PLN 20-25 per piece, with the ironing being the responsibility of the buyer. In regions where the demand for straw is the highest, there are situations where the offer is valued at up to PLN 50 (when ironed by the buyer). Some bidders price straw according to weight – there are rates ranging from PLN 300 upwards per tonne, with the average amount being PLN 350/tonne. A large cube (weight approximately 400 kg) costs from PLN 100 upwards.
