2025 year. this is the year of challenges for the dairy sector
In the opinion of Agnes Maliszewska, director PIM, first vice-chair COGECA, the year 2025 will be the year of challenges for the dairy industry.
– We had hoped, that this would be a peaceful year, but life shows, that this peace can sometimes be disrupted by black swans. So let’s hope that there will not be too many of them, but for some challenges we must prepare – said during the meeting Maliszewska.
She also informed that in the next weeks the Council will present the developed strategy for the Polish dairy sector.
– We heartily encourage to participate in the next stages of creating this document – added.
From the both Gorz Gańko, president of the Polish Dairy Association, indicated, that the last year was not the easiest for the dairy industry.
– Last year was quite difficult, though in the second half the situation slightly improved. Let’s remember however, that challenges are looming, and hope that we will have a painless way to handle these – Gańko said.
Major successes of dairy in 2024 year.
During the meeting Maliszewska shared with us her assessment of the year 2024 in reference to the dairy industry, indicating what were the biggest successes of the dairy sector and what has not been achieved.
– The industry closed the year 2024 with good economic results and this is a success, because we were able to end the year to pay farmers well, andyes indeed it was. Another success was that lots of people started talking about the mind. Of course, that all the debate, which has broken over the topic of butter, focused prior on that the prices of butter are high. However, in my view this is success, because we have also begun talking about that for good quality food you have to pay a good price. Using this debate about the mind we could also slightly educate consumers and stress, that it is important to pay attention to this, what we buy, that if we want to care for our health, that we should choose butter, and not hard fats. When pricing butter there has also been an issue of payment to farmers. Consumers need to know that in order the farmer can receive a decent price for milk, it is necessary to sell the goods made from this milk for an appropriate price – our
interviewee mentioned.
– All the time we also talk about the necessity of respecting food, and that
the price of food will increase, because the cost of producing it is increasing. At the same time we
look at that each of the participants of this chain should receive a fair remuneration for their work beginning to the farmer. I believe, that this is one of the successes of the end of the past year – she added.

– Of course, we haven’t succeeded in implementing many things, that we planned. From the viewpoint the organization often lacks money to promote milk consumption. All the time we talk about that we should consume more of our Polish dairy products, because then the money returns to our Polish farmers. However in my opinion
there still is too few resources – stated Maliszewska.
