Importantly, in connection with the freeze on gas prices in force in the first half of 2024 by the legislator, approved by the President of the Energy Regulatory Office in December 2023 and amended in February this year. the PGNiG OD tariff for 2024 did not translate into the current gas bills for individual customers and other authorized users.

From July 1, 2024, we will enter the mechanism of gradual unfreezing of electricity and gas prices for households. The situation on the raw material markets (coal, gas) is clearly stabilizing, which in turn translates into a decline in wholesale gas prices – said Rafał Gawin, President of the Energy Regulatory Office. – There is therefore no justification for continuing to maintain frozen, non-market price rates for the sale and distribution of gas fuel.

What does the gas fuel bill for households consist of?

The total amount of the bill for households includes: fees for gas fuel, fees for the distribution service and subscription fees.

From July 1, 2024, the maximum gas price for household consumers, set at PLN 200.17/MWh, will no longer apply.

In the second half of the year, the distribution fees of Polska Spółka Gazownictwa, responsible for the distribution of gas fuel in most parts of Poland, are also unfrozen, and approved by the President of the Energy Regulatory Office for 2024 in December 2023. However, the subscription fee remains frozen until December 31, 2024.

What price for customers of other gas sellers?

From July 1 to December 31, 2024, the gas price approved in the tariff for PGNiG OD will also be the maximum price for other companies selling natural gas to individual customers and other authorized entities.

These sellers will be able to sell gas at a lower price, but in this case they will not be entitled to compensation for lost profits.
