Foulbrood outbreaks occurred in the following areas:

Podkarpackie Voivodeship (Brzozów and Krosno counties)
Pomeranian Voivodeship (Kartusz County)
Silesian Voivodeship (Katowice, Rybnik, Bielsko County)
Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship (Skarżysko County)

Of the above locations, the most unexpected occurrence of the disease seems to be in Pomerania, because historically only sporadic foulbrood outbreaks have been recorded in this area.

Foulbrood outbreaks in 2024

Since the beginning of the year, 16 outbreaks of American foulbrood have been reported in bees. In addition to the above locations, the disease also appeared in the Greater Poland Voivodeship.

Historically, the number of outbreaks in May is comparable to previous years. In the years 2020 – 2024, from 2 to eight disease outbreaks were confirmed in May. However, compared to previous years, the number of cases in January – May is clearly higher. This is primarily due to the relatively large number of outbreaks confirmed in April.
