Outside the red and pink zones, ASF in wild boars occurred in the Kleszczewo commune (Poznań district) and Piątnica commune (Łomża district). While in the case of the first location, the occurrence of disease outbreaks is not surprising (ASF is present in the neighbouring commune), in the case of the outbreak in Łomża district, we are talking about a quite large jump – the nearest ASF outbreak in wild boars was confirmed a month ago in a part of the Trzcianne commune in Mońki district, approximately 25 kilometres away.
Where have the ASF outbreaks in wild boars occurred?
Last week, ASF outbreaks were confirmed in the following locations:

In 45 ASF outbreaks, the disease was confirmed in the tissues of a total of 53 wild boars.
ASF in 2024
Since the beginning of the year, 1,165 ASF outbreaks in wild boars have been confirmed in 12 provinces. For comparison, in the same period of 2023, we had over 2,000 confirmed outbreaks. The situation among pigs is much worse. As of today, we have 36 confirmed outbreaks of the disease (compared to 30 in the whole of last year). This year, the disease has hit the regions strategic for national pig production – Wielkopolska, south-western Warmia, and recently also the central part of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian province.
