The outbreak of the disease was confirmed in the village of Rożnowo Nowogardzkie in the Maszewo commune (Goleniów district, West Pomeranian Voivodeship). The infected herd contained only 6 pigs.
This is the second outbreak of ASF in pigs recently confirmed in this commune. On Tuesday, ASF was confirmed in the town of Darż, approximately 4 kilometers away. There, however, we were dealing with a herd of almost 2.4 thousand pigs. It is not yet known whether the two outbreaks were in any way connected.
At the end of 2023, there were 57 pig herds in Goleniów County, keeping a total of just over 20,000 animals. In the entire West Pomeranian Voivodeship, there were 859 herds at that time, keeping around 434,000 pigs.
