This year's ASF outbreaks in Greater Poland are concentrated in the Poznań, Gniezno, Wągrowiec, Obornicki and Gniezno counties. It was in one of these regions – Obornica County that ASF was confirmed in another herd of pigs.
The 2024/25 outbreak was confirmed in the town of Rożnowo in the Oborniki commune. The herd in which the disease appeared consisted of 481 pigs. This is the fourth ASF outbreak this year in the Obornica district and the thirteenth in the Greater Poland Voivodeship.
The GIW also provided details of the previous outbreak of the disease. Outbreak no. 2024/24 was confirmed in the Ryjewo commune in the Kwidzyn district. The infected herd consisted of 161 pigs. This is the first ASF outbreak in history confirmed in the Pomeranian Voivodeship.
