- From Saturday, August 3, until September 11, residents of several dozen towns in Poland will be able to visit selected chain stores and exchange empty plastic drink bottles for vouchers for subsequent purchases.
- This year, 200 stores will take part in the campaign, which is double the number from last year's edition.
Biedronka implements an environmental protection strategy, one of the pillars of which is broadly understood eco-education and raising awareness among customers, employees and stakeholders.
During the summer months, we intensify our educational activities by running the "ekoWakacje z Biedronką" program, one of the elements of which is the collection of plastic bottles. Last year we collected over 102,000. plastic bottles, which translates into 2,500 kg of plastic that was properly managed – says Natalia Przybytkowska-Łasak, environmental protection manager at the Biedronka chain.
How to return plastic bottles to Biedronka
The rules of the campaign are simple and for every 6 empty plastic drink bottles, the customer will receive a voucher of PLN 1. Importantly, bottles can be of different capacities and from different manufacturers. They can be brought to specially marked points in store parking lots from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., every day – from August 3 to September 11. The received voucher can be used for purchases worth min. PLN 1, greater than its value. The limit per person is 5 vouchers, i.e. 30 bottles brought. Share coupons are cumulative, single-use and cannot be exchanged for cash. They can be used to purchase further drinks in plastic bottles until September 30, 2024, in any chain store in Poland.
Biedronka at the Olsztyn Green Festival
From August 15 to 17, a music festival will be held in Olsztyn, which, in addition to a musical feast, promotes pro-environmental activities. This year, Biedronka will debut as a sponsor of this event, and will offer many attractions to participants of all ages in a specially prepared eco-activity zone. The main topic of the zone will be segregation of packaging waste and not wasting food. Guests will be able to see, among others, large magnetic boards that will be used to educate about proper waste segregation. You will also be able to test your strength on blender bikes, and after exercise, use the rest area. Biedronka will provide festival goers with fresh fruit and reusable vegetable bags, showing how effectively they can replace thin plastic bags. The youngest will be treated to stuffed animals from last year's Mocniaków Gang.
The festival is another point on the "ecoWakcja with Biedronka" map. This year's program began with participation in the "Czyste Tatry eco-Małopolska" project, where, together with volunteers, mountain trails were cleaned of waste left behind and we were present in the event's eco-town.
