- From Saturday, August 3, until September 11, residents of dozens of towns in Poland will be able to visit selected chain stores and exchange empty plastic drinks bottles for vouchers for future purchases.
- This year, 200 stores will take part in the campaign, which is double the number from last year.
Biedronka is implementing an environmental protection strategy, one of the pillars of which is broadly understood eco-education and raising awareness among customers, employees and stakeholders.
During the summer months, we intensify our educational activities by running the "eco-holidays with Biedronka" program, one of the elements of which is the collection of plastic bottles. Last year, we collected over 102 thousand plastic bottles, which translates into 2,500 kg of plastic that was properly managed – says Natalia Przybytkowska-Łasak, environmental protection manager at the Biedronka chain.
How to return plastic bottles to Biedronka
The rules of the campaign are simple and for every 6 empty plastic beverage bottles, the customer will receive a voucher worth PLN 1. Importantly, the bottles can be of different capacities and from different manufacturers. They can be brought to specially marked points in the parking lots of stores between 11:00 and 19:00, every day – from August 3 to September 11. The voucher received can be used for purchases worth at least PLN 1, greater than its value. The limit per person is 5 vouchers, i.e. 30 bottles brought. Coupons from the campaign can be combined, are single-use and cannot be exchanged for cash. They can be used to buy more beverages in plastic bottles until September 30, 2024, in every store of the chain in Poland.
Ladybird at the Olsztyn Green Festival
On August 15-17, a music festival will be held in Olsztyn, which, in addition to a musical feast, promotes pro-environmental activities. This year, Biedronka will debut as a sponsor of this event, and in a specially prepared eco-activity zone, it will offer participants of all ages many attractions. The main theme of the zone will be segregation of packaging waste and not wasting food. Guests will be able to, among other things, enjoy large magnetic boards that will be used to educate about proper waste segregation. You will also be able to test your strength on blender bikes, and after exercise, use the rest zone. Biedronka will provide festival goers with fresh fruit and reusable vegetable bags, at the same time showing how effectively they can replace thin plastic bags. The youngest will be treated to plush toys from last year's Gang Mocniaków.
The festival is another point on the map of "ecoWakcja z Biedronką". This year's program began with participation in the project "Czyste Tatry ekoMałopolska", where together with volunteers we cleaned mountain trails from leftover waste and we were present in the event's eco-town.
