According to meteorologists' forecasts, a storm front accompanied by lightning discharges passed over the country. The most dangerous atmospheric phenomena occurred in the Lublin region, Lesser Poland and Silesia.
In the Lublin region, the most dangerous area was the Biłgoraj district. The storm knocked down many trees, and there was also flooding of properties and basements. In just a few hours, firefighters intervened a dozen times.
In the town of Andrzejówka, a barn caught fire after being struck by lightning. Nine fire brigades fought the fire.
In Racibórz and its surroundings, 50 mm of rain fell in a short time. This caused many floods and inundations, not only of buildings, but also of streets.
IMWM warns that the coming hours will not be calm.
Thunderstorms are forecast, which in places will be accompanied by very heavy rainfall from 35 mm to 55 mm, and wind gusts of up to 90 km/h. Locally hail – warns IMGW.
At night, only in the north-west the rain will disappear and clear up. In addition, frontal clouds are still to remain, from which it will rain and thunder.
