The rally and exhibition of old tractors and agricultural machines, organized by the Retro Traktor Golub Dobrzyń club, has been attracting lovers of old agricultural technology to the Golub castle for 16 years. Although a large part of the exhibits are still well-known, popular tractor models, such as Ursus C325, C328, C330, C45 or Zetor 25 and 3011, each year you can see more and more real gems, rarely seen in Polish fields. Such machines include the title Ursus C3110, a seemingly ordinary, popular "six" or visually more "eighty", but with a Perkins engine under the hood.

Ursus heavy series
We have already discussed topics related to the history of the Ursus heavy series more than once, discussing such popular models as C385, C385A, 1204 or 1604. All of them have absolutely typical engines constructed by a team led by Eugeniusz Ajzenberg and Bozyvoj Vrona. Although it might seem that the first six-cylinder model was the Ursus 1201/1204, produced since 1975, it turns out that this was only the case on the domestic market. 6 cylinders were offered for export already in 1972, with the introduction of the C3110 model, equipped with a Perkins A6.354 engine with a power of 110 horsepower.
Ursus cars with a Perkins engine
The fact that Perkins engines are used in Ursus tractors is absolutely nothing extraordinary. Well-known is the Ursus C360 3P, where 3P means the three-cylinder Perkins with a power of 47.5 HP. However, this model debuted much later, in 1981. The same engine was installed in the Massey Ferguson Ursus 255 tractor and here we can smoothly move to MF-licensed tractors, whose characteristic feature were the engines of the British manufacturer.

Perkins with six cylinders, however, allowed export markets to meet the expectations of customers looking for tractors with power above 100 HP even before the development of their own engines, offered from the above-mentioned year 1975. The heavy Ursus series was still relatively modern at that time, exports were profitable, and the State Agricultural Farms still had to cope with for some time without large Ursus cars, although it is worth mentioning that at that time in Polish fields you could find Hungarian Dutras with a power of 90-100 HP, produced since 1964.
An unobtrusive unique piece
At first glance, the Ursus C3110 looks like a typical '80' from the beginning of production, with a flat hood, and there were several of them at the Golub rally. A trained eye will immediately notice that the exhaust is on the "wrong" side of the engine. Interestingly, as in the case of other models of the heavy series, there was also a Czechoslovak equivalent – Zetor 9911.

Renault Celtis 446 RX second-hand from a user's perspective. Is it worth it?
Ursus C3110 was produced in 1972-78. The mentioned Perkins A6.354 with a displacement of 5.8 liters generated 110-112 horsepower, and in rare versions with a turbocharger it was 130 horsepower. There was also a 4-wheel drive version, marked C3110 DT. The mentioned British engine was coupled to a typical four-speed gearbox, well known from models for the domestic market.
Currently, C3110 models can be found more and more often in the Polish countryside, thanks to the import of used Ursus cars from Western European countries, which has become popular in recent years. It is still not a popular tractor, but finding one is no longer a miracle, and single copies can be found on advertising portals.
