Ukraine: The court confiscated thousands of tons of grain at the Odessa terminal for companies' tax evasion

Ukraina: Sąd skonfiskował tysiące ton zbóż w odeskim terminalu za uchylanie się firm od podatków

The court in Odessa ordered the services to seize grain worth over UAH 80 million at the Olympex terminal. 29 sea containers filled with wheat were confiscated, as well as over 33,000 tons of corn and over 11 thousand tons of wheat in warehouses. The ongoing criminal proceedings concern tax evasion by several exporters.

The State Treasury fraud amounts to almost UAH 81 million. The investigation concerns several grain trading, transport and export companies, both Ukrainian and those with Western capital. However, grain trading also involved companies established on the so-called poles.

The network of connections between them included, among others: hide the origin of grain, help falsify documents and facilitate tax evasion. The prosecutor's office also secured export documents of foreign companies receiving grain from suspicious entities.
