A major tax fraud in the fertilizer trade was discovered by detectives of the Main Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine (BEB). A Ukrainian company, which was supposed to produce biofertilizers, signed a contract for the supply of its products with a company from Estonia. However, the biofertilizers were to be delivered to an agricultural company in Moldova.
The Estonian company purchased 730 tons of biofertilizers from a Ukrainian plant for a total amount of UAH 900 million. The first batch of liquid fertilizers, in accordance with the terms of the contract, was to be shipped to Moldova. The director of the Ukrainian company immediately submitted an application to obtain a tax refund in the amount of UAH 33 million. However, he was unlucky, because the Mausers being prepared for shipment were checked. It turned out that instead of biofertilizers, the tanks contained only clean water. This was also confirmed by tests in a specialized laboratory.
However, when the officers wanted to detain the head of the Ukrainian company, it turned out to be impossible because he had already gone abroad – reports Latifundist. He was notified by phone about law enforcement's suspicions. The prosecutor's office intends to accuse him of forging documents and attempting to extort, but the director is not eager to return. As we read, the Ukrainian authorities made efforts within the framework of international cooperation to bring the suspect back to the country. The proceedings in this case were supervised by the Prosecutor General's Office.
