-Enemy fire destroyed a significant part of the cattle and poultry, many animal housing facilities were destroyed. First of all, it concerns poultry farming – 1.2 million poultry died. Only one of 13 poultry farms operates in the voivodeship, which significantly influenced gross egg production and market saturation. We also have huge losses in pig breeding, where as a result of enemy hostilities, specialized enterprises lost over 25,000 animals, said Artem Chagan, director of the Department of Agro-Industrial Development and Land Relations of the Donetsk State Administration.
According to the regional authorities, as a result of hostilities, the region suffered losses in animal husbandry estimated at UAH 1.1 billion. Most losses occur on farms near the front line and in occupied areas. However, they cannot be fully counted yet. Since the beginning of the war, the sown area in the Donetsk Oblast has also shrunk significantly. Experts estimate that the area is 80% smaller. In the Kharkiv Oblast, in turn, war losses in agriculture amount to as much as UAH 18.1 billion. As a result of war operations, 30% of agricultural enterprises there suffered damage.
