Reselo Rubber is a completely renewable material made from birch bark, which comes from waste from the global pulp, paper and sawmill industries.
Nokian Tyres Senior Manager of Research and Sustainability Heini Siekkinen said laboratory tests have shown that Reselo Rubber “shows great potential to replace traditional fossil-based materials in tyres.”
The company plans to achieve a share of renewable or recycled raw materials in its tires of 50% by 2030.
In Russia, Nokian Tyres had its own plant, built in Vsevolozhsk, Leningrad Region, in 2005. In 2021, the company produced 80% of its passenger car tires in the Russian Federation. In 2022, Nokian Tyres decided to leave the Russian market.
