
Confirmed suspicion
The suspicion of tuberculosis in cattle has been confirmed in the region Hinterer Bregenzerwald (Austria), according to the communication of the Region Vorarlberg. After the positive result of the quick test for tuberculosis in Germany the will end of last year, the disease affected farm was closed, and cattle in the stock were examined in December 2024 year.
All animals were killed from because of tuberculosis
It was confirmed that the tuberculosis pathogen had already infected most of the herd. This diagnosis has prompted the State Veterinary Office, in agreement with the Ministry of Health, to issue a banned slaughter of all 107 stocks of cattle. The slaughter of animals by the injured farmer has already happened.
The loss of whole inventory living is a tragedy for every farmer, a material loss, before all, the suffering emotional, said Councillor of state Christian Gantner (ÖVP). Gantner has promised to pay compensation from the federal government and to pay from the state animal health fund.
However the dangerous epidemic still stays strong. The State Veterinary Office informed, that investigations at farms contacting with the primary farm have made huge progress. To date 302 animals sourced from three milk pastures and one pasture for young cattle have been studied, on which grazed also animals from an infected farm.
297 tests did result negative. In contrast, in an other farm in Bregenzerwald recorded five
new suspect cases. In Montafon two other farms were also closed because of suspected tuberculosis, which has no direct relationship
to these cases.
