Following the new US sanctions package, the price of Russian oil transport by “shadow ship” has increased by three times, reported Bloomberg, emphasising that experts believe that it will increase.

The Provincial Ports of Shandong where there are a lot of oil processing factories have started to introduce limitations,preventing the unloading of “shadow fleet ships during the announcement of a new package of sanctions ,reported Bloomberg.
But the sanctions are mostly applied to vessels carrying crude oil and not refined oil products.According to the International Energy Agency, the increase in Moscow’s revenue from fuel exports last month has supported a decline in revenue from oil , emphasised Bloomberg.
Last autumn Financial Times reported, that the “shadow fleet carried almost 70 percent moreoilthanin2023years,whichincreasesthehazards toenvironment.Thefleetoftypeiscomprisedofworn-out,obsoleteandpoorlydecommissionedtankers.In2023themonthJuneof2023theyhad afloat of2.4millioninthedecade.
