The accident happened on the way to a folk festival in Hersbruck in central Franconia (Germany). The tractor driver was carrying a total of 14 passengers – one in the cabin and 13 people on the trailer. For unknown reasons, the vehicle left the paved road, overturned and rolled several times.
According to Agrarheute, 15 people travelling in the set were injured. Three of them were transported to hospital by rescue helicopter in serious or life-threatening condition. They are the 29-year-old driver of the tractor and two passengers aged 18 and 26. 10 people involved in the accident were taken to hospital with minor injuries, and two people were treated on the spot.
As reported by Bayerischer Rundfunk, the police have initiated proceedings against the tractor driver for causing bodily harm through negligence.
