Tiktok should close by law in the US, but the White House has made it clear that it will not be required. But Tiktok wants to receive clear assurances

from the US administration, threatening to cut off its services in the US on January 19.

Chinese social platform Tiktok on Saturday, 18 January, announced that it will cancel its services in the expiration of the sale deadline on 19 January, if by that time the White House doesn’t define its position more clearly.

According to the operators of Tiktok, the previous comments from the authorities are not enough. The administration of President of the US President Joe Biden has previously stated that the implementation of the law will be left to future President Donald Trump.

But Trump will be sworn into the Oath of Office on Monday, January 20, a deadline, by which Chinese company Bytedance is required by U.S. law to dispose of Tiktok, which expired the day earlier.

According to the law, Apple and Google will have to remove Tiktok from their U.S. application stores, and the application will lose access to infrastructure.

American companies that continue cooperation with the Chinese social network will face high fines.

Tiktok demands the White House clear assurances that they won’t be threatened by anythe effects if the service continues operating in the United States.

Possible extension of the sale period under the Law,The President of the United States can extend the sale of Tiktok by 90 days but only if the negotiations for the sale are successful.

Bytedance and Tiktok have until now strictly refused to consider the possibility of separation.

At the same time the Bloomberg agency with reference to informed sources reported, that Beijing is considering the possibility of selling the American unit of TikTok to multi-billionaire Ilon Musk.

In the U.S. there are fears that PRC authorities through Tiktok could gain access to Americans’ data and influence public opinion in the country.

The company denies these accusations. Tiktok continually emphasizes that Bytedance is predominantly owned by international investors, but the mother company because of the head office in Beijing must obey the directives of the authorities.

In addition, the PRC government can influence the sale of the company: the algorithmthatselectsvideosforuserswasdevelopedinChina, andBeijinghasbannedthetransmissionofthisPOwithoutspecialpermission.
