Two men were detained by police officers from Zakrętm and Nowy Dwór. According to the investigators, a 57-year-old and a 55-year-old from Warsaw, "acting together and in concert in order to obtain financial benefits, led to unfavorable disposal of their own property" of a farmer from the Zazdrowiem commune. One of them defrauded a farmer from the Płońsk district in a similar way.
They pretended to be inspectors
The suspects, pretending to be employees of the National Labor Inspectorate, inspected the farms and then extorted tribute from the farmers to help them forget about their transgressions. A farmer from the Zadrożym commune handed over cash to the fraudsters, but immediately notified the police about the incident.
Accident at the intersection
Officers detained the suspects in Zakrętym, at the intersection of DW62 and DK7. The injured farmers immediately recognized the fraudsters. Two residents of Warsaw were taken to police cells and then charged. The court decided to temporarily arrest the fraudsters.
"The 57-year-old faces a penalty of up to 8 years in prison. As it turned out, the 55-year-old was a recidivist, so the upper limit of the penalty for this crime may be increased by half." – we read in the police statement.
The police are appealing
The police suspect that there may be more defrauded farmers and appeal to the victims to report to the District Police Headquarters in Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki in person or by phone.
