There is growing concern about common disease of poultry. The disease can be stoppedbyvaccines.

Rośnie niepokój związany z rzekomym pomorem drobiu. Chorobę mogą powstrzymać szczepionki

In the last weeks epizootic cross poultry in our country has significantly accelerated. The disease still until mid 2023 year was slightly exotic to us – there had been it in Poland for nearly 50 years. Until November last year fires occurred incidentally – in 2023 year four, and in the period January – October 2024 – only three. Also the extent of the disease was limited. In last year to November the outbreaks occurred only in Monetsk district in Podlasie.
Unfortunately the last two months have brought an alarming increase in the number of illnesses. Until the end of the year the 21 focus of disease had been confirmed, but in January we already had five more stad infected with the disease. There has also increased the range of common disease in poultry. In Podlasie to the moniet county there is also bialostocki, sokólski and siemiatycze. Disease has also occurred in the eastern county of Mazovian province (district sedlec and łosicki) and in biala county of Lublin province. Also unsettling is the fact that focuses of cross poultry have appeared in wild birds in a completely different region of Poland – in Malopolska province, Silesian and Podkarpackie.

– With much concern we are observing the situation associated with the expansion in our country of the occurrence of common poultry disease. It is a disease, which has been in our country unpresent for close to 50 years, unfortunately we are now for the second year, when it repeats in our country, and in the autumn – winter fires are increasing. This obliges all our branch to act, especially that in distinguishing from flu birds we have an effective

tool for disease – vaccines – he said in conversation with Farmer.pl Dariusz Goszczynski, president of the Management and director general of the National Poultry Council –

Vaccines effectively hamper crosses of poultry

As added an expert, available on the market vaccines have a number of advantages. Before all after administration of the basic and precursor dose they provide high levels of antibodies. However as an expert adds it is worth constantly monitoring, to in time of declining resistance use an other dose. After the second – available vaccines do not close to our poultry external markets. The fact of implementing vaccination in no way affects negatively the export capabilities of our sector. After three – vaccines these are expensive and do not constitute a financial burden for breeders.

– However, in order to vaccination fulfill its purpose and create a type of “collective

immunity” it is necessary that they be conducted in all stages. This does not only stad

commercial, but also home-based. The lack of action in bioinsurance and vaccination on non-commercial farms will

negatively affect all producers in the region – Goszczynski said.

Most countries recognize rules regionalization

As highlighted by president KRD-IG, the situation is serious and each new focus is not only losses related to its liquidation (culling of animals, decontamination of the facility, or the payment of damages for lost animals), but also the impact of such focus on the export opportunities of the sector. Unfortunately most significant customers of domestic poultry recognize the principles of regionalization, through what restrictions on exports are usually or a designated zone around focus, or some counties. It happens that the restriction affects a larger area, but the branch goes to that, so that the established regionalization rules apply asExpert also appealed to all breeders to maintain high standards of biological protection.
