The turnover of the capital's food producers increased by 10%

The turnover of the capital's food industry producers in January – May 2024 amounted to more than 319 billion rubles, said Deputy Mayor of Moscow, Head of the Department of Economic Policy and City Development Maria Bagreeva.

“The Moscow food industry continues to actively develop, increasing production, providing Muscovites with products and supplying them to other regions of the country. Based on the results of January – May 2024, industry enterprises increased their turnover by almost 10% in comparable prices – to 319.1 billion rubles. About 22% of this volume, or 70 billion rubles, was provided by meat industry enterprises; 14.7%, or 46.7 billion rubles, are dairy product producers. Enterprises producing bakery and flour confectionery products account for 14% of industry turnover, or 44.8 billion rubles,” noted Maria Bagreeva.

The share of the food industry in the total turnover of Moscow manufacturing industries (excluding the oil and gas sector) in January – May 2024 amounted to almost 11%. The capital accounts for 6.2% of the total Russian food industry turnover.

The growth leaders in the first five months of this year were flour mills and cereal producers, whose turnover increased by 69.3% in comparable prices – up to 6 billion rubles. Beverage producers increased their turnover by 43.4% – to 30.8 billion rubles, dairy products – by 26.3%, bakery and flour confectionery products – by 22.6%.

Over 81% of the food industry's turnover, or 260 billion rubles, comes from large and medium-sized enterprises; over the year their turnover increased by 10.4%.
