As part of the study, data from the acquiring network of Russian Standard Bank was studied on the number and average receipts of all purchases, including SBP, for the first half of 2024 and 2023.

It turned out that the ratio of online and offline purchases in 2024 has changed; in the first half of 2024, 60% of total purchases were made offline, and 40% were made online. A year earlier, the ratio was exactly the opposite. According to the bank’s acquiring network, the total average offline check was 1,665 rubles, and online – 1,518 rubles. In the same period in 2023, offline was also in the lead – 1,396 rubles versus 1,322 rubles for online.

At the same time, online is the leader in the statistics of payments through the Faster Payment System. In the first half of 2024, it accounted for 79% of transactions, and offline – 21%. Bank analysts note that purchase statistics are significantly influenced by the active development of payments through SBP. The service is used not only for online shopping, but also in regular stores, where the number of points with contactless payments using a QR code through SBP is growing.

The study showed that in 2024, the most popular offline spending categories by number of purchases include supermarkets (average bill 576 rubles), household goods (average bill 3,083 rubles) and fast food (average bill 366 rubles).

Online, as revealed during the study, popular spending categories by number of purchases include supermarkets (average bill 385 rubles), active recreation and entertainment, including rental of sports equipment (124 rubles) and children's clothing stores (average bill 1,762 rubles) .

As in 2023, with the arrival of the warm season, online statistics are adjusted by the “active recreation and entertainment” category. According to data obtained during the study, a significant share here is made up of payments for renting electric scooters, which reduces the overall average bill in this category.
