The lower house of parliament will consider the initiative to create special agricultural aggregators in the second reading on July 23. Such structures will help farmers with checking, packaging and delivering products to large retail chains.
The initiative has already been supported by the Ministry of Agriculture, which is working on criteria for agricultural aggregators. Preliminarily, these will include about 5 thousand already operating agricultural cooperatives. However, the opinions of industry experts are divided: while some enterprises welcome such powers and count on profits, others are afraid of unnecessary financial burden.
If adopted, the law will come into force on September 1, 2024.
