The jewelry brand Sokolov analyzed sales of jewelry with emeralds in different regions of Russia for the first half of 2023 and 2024 and compiled an “emerald” rating of Russian cities.

According to the study, sales of emerald jewelry in the first half of 2024 increased by 49% compared to the same period last year, and the average bill was 30,484 rubles, which is 22% more than in 2023.
The city with the highest average purchase price for emerald jewelry was Krasnodar – 39,011 rubles (+48% year-on-year). Chelyabinsk took second place with an average bill of 38,482 rubles (+82%), third place went to Sochi – 37,030 rubles (+24%). Rounding out the top 5 are Tyumen with an average bill of 36,471 rubles (+48%) and Voronezh – 36,462 rubles (+69%).
Moscow, meanwhile, took sixth place in the ranking – the average bill for jewelry with emerald was 34,766 rubles (+40%), and St. Petersburg with an average bill of 32,493 rubles (+12%) was in seventh place.
The most popular emerald jewelry among Russians in 2024 were earrings; they were purchased 25% more than in the first half of last year. Rings took second place (+34% year-on-year), and pendants took third place (+12%). Next come bracelets, necklaces and brooches. Russians traditionally choose jewelry made of red and white gold, and the greatest demand is for products with stones weighing 0.1 carats, followed by 0.5 – 1 carat in popularity.
