The survey was conducted among 5,000 residents over 18 years of age. The sample is representative by gender, age and city of residence. The survey was conducted in collaboration with OMI (Online Market Intelligence).
According to the survey, 44% of respondents are confident in the high quality of gin produced in Russia. Moreover, the largest share of those who agree (49%) with this statement is observed among young people aged 21–24 years. The growing popularity of domestic gin is also confirmed by retail sales in the first quarter of 2024 – according to analysts, they grew by 16% compared to the same period in 2023.
In addition, SimpleWine analysts found out how often Russians drink gin. A survey of respondents showed that 19% of consumers drink gin once every 2-3 months or more often. At the same time, men drink gin more often than women – 25% and 14%, respectively. Also, gin is mainly preferred by young people. Thus, among the age group from 21 to 44 years, every fourth respondent regularly drinks gin. Further, the frequency of gin consumption decreases with increasing age – and for consumers over 65 years of age it is only 6%.
