According to Focus Technologies, in the first week of July, traffic at shopping centers in Moscow and St. Petersburg increased year-on-year by 5% and 2%, respectively. The increase in traffic is associated with hot weather – people were escaping the heat in the cool rooms of shopping centers.

Top shopping centers continue to be the most popular among tenants, but they make up only 20% of all properties. And in other shopping centers, vacancy reaches 15%. Experts have no hope for retailers – in the last two years, retail chains have taken up excess space for development.

The situation with vacancy on the central shopping streets of Moscow is much better – it fell by 6.4 percentage points, to 7.9% since the beginning of 2024, thanks to the activity of fashion retailers and restaurants. The most active decrease in vacancy was recorded on pedestrian streets: by 9.9 percentage points, to 3.5%. On Malaya Bronnaya and Petrovka there are now no empty premises at all, and on Kuznetsky Most there were five openings at once in the first 6 months.

Rental rates on the central shopping street of St. Petersburg have increased 1.5 times .

NF Group: Russian brands occupied 79% of space in key shopping centers in Moscow .
