- The second meeting of the working group of the Team for teachers' professional pragmatics will be held on August 22.
- The management of the Ministry of National Education will refer to the pay solutions presented by trade unionists, the most important of which is a change in the remuneration system.
- Trade unionists are counting on specific decisions, but if it is just idle talk, they announce protests.
Currently, no one is talking about it out loud, but the teachers' protest is hanging in the balance.
– It all depends on what position the Ministry of National Education takes on the comments we submit. Because if it turns out that the government will not consent to any of the changes we propose, the question arises what is the point of conducting these talks. In such a situation, the government will have to take into account the consequences – says Sławomir Wittkowicz, chairman of the Free Trade Union "Forum Oświata".

Pełczyńska-Nałęcz: KPO, due to a two-year delay, is a constant race against time
As agreed on June 26, the union sent a letter to the Ministry of National Education with proposed changes. It was divided into two parts, the first of which concerned remuneration issues, the second – broadly understood pensions. And when it comes to basic solutions, it is more or less consistent with the proposals of two subsequent unions participating in the work of the working groups of the Team for Teachers' Professional Pragmatics – Educational Solidarity and the Polish Teachers' Union, which PortalSamorzadowy.pl extensively described.

Because there are actually a lot of these issues – says Waldemar Jakubowski, chairman of the National Education Section of NSZZ "Solidarność".

The chairman of the union is aware of budget constraints, but believes that if no quick decisions are made regarding teachers, it will not be possible to stop the phenomenon of leaving the profession, lack of recruitment at universities, etc.
– This creeping crisis will deepen, but now much faster, in leaps and bounds – says Waldemar Jakubowski.
In his opinion, we have 3-4 years to react, because then some negative changes in education will become irreversible. And it will no longer be possible to rebuild the education system in a reasonable time.
– So I will say it brutally: we have to introduce these changes quickly. If not with this government, then maybe with the next one, he says.

This does not mean, however, that the talks with the current management of the Ministry of National Education are assessed negatively. He even admits that they are valuable.
– Meetings with the ministry's management provide some added value, because during them we try to systematize certain topics and find certain solutions – he says.
The issue of pay raises for teachers from 2025 does not seem hopeless to him either, although the Ministry of National Education claims that there is no money for it in the budget. He still believes that education expenses can be "arranged" in such a way that next year's budget will include funds for increases.
Especially since there is already a proposal to increase the increase for the public sector to 7.6%. But we will find out what the government's true intentions are on August 22. In his opinion, the issue of increasing the basic salary of appointed teachers may be such a positive signal.
– That's one of the things. But if promotion is to have any significance, it must have a financial dimension, he explains.
