There are only two two
and half weeks left until Estonia leaves the Russian grid
and joins the European grid. County officials, Elering and rescue are sharing instructions on what steps the country’s people should take.
The action plan is detailed to the smallest details. At 23.59 7 February the expiration of
Estonia’s contract with Russia. Overnight everyone can sleep quietly, but in the morning of 8 February the communication with Russia will be disconnected first in Lithuania, then in Latvia and at about 8 morning in Estonia. If the Russians do anything on their side, the Estonian officials will just have less work, says Kalle Kilk, the head of Elering.
Then a day or a day and a half of testing will be conducted in the Baltic countries to show that we can manage ourselves. February 9 at 18.00 we will be officially connected to the European Union through the Lithuanian-Polish cable. If required, it will be done earlier.
