The Riigikogu voted on Wednesday to adopt a negative additional budget for the current year, which provides for a certain reduction in expenses and the receipt of additional revenues into the state budget, writes RusERR. The total reduction in expenses provided for in the additional budget is about 115 million euros, and additional income in the form of dividends from state-owned companies – 68 million euros. The budget also provides for a reduction of the government reserve by 29 million euros. According to Finance Minister Mart Vyrklaev, this will reduce the state budget deficit this year to 1.19 billion euros and will not exceed the 3% of GDP allowed by EU rules. Savings are achieved by reducing the operating costs of ministries, shifting the timing of some investments and reducing spending on science due to the contraction of the Estonian economy, since this category of expenditure is calculated as 1% of GDP.
