2GIS analysts have calculated that over the past year the number of cafes and restaurants with summer verandas in 16 largest cities in Russia has increased by 15%. Outdoor tables without awnings and fences are especially popular among restaurateurs – their number has increased by 41.2%.
The largest number of establishments with summer verandas and terraces opened in Voronezh (+31%). However, the highest proportion of establishments with such concepts was recorded in Nizhny Novgorod – 29.4%. In Moscow, 21.9% of restaurants and cafes are equipped with outdoor tables and terraces, and in St. Petersburg – 22.4%. The fewest verandas were found in Omsk – 14.1% of all establishments.
The growing popularity of summer verandas is primarily explained by the intensification of domestic tourism. The format of summer verandas provides establishments with an additional influx of guests and revenue growth by 20–30%. If we are talking about a location with a beautiful view and high traffic, then the revenue of restaurants increases by 50%.
