The Kėdainiai canning factory increases its capacity: it accepts and trains new employees

Kėdainių konservų fabrikas didina pajėgumus: priima ir apmoko naujus darbuotojus

The Kėdainiai canning factory, which will soon celebrate its 80th anniversary, is significantly increasing its production capacity and preparing to work around the clock, not only during the cucumber season. After the sharp increase in the sales of mayonnaise and sauces both in the Lithuanian and foreign markets, working in three shifts, the factory is no longer able to produce as many of these products as there is a need for them, so it was decided to create more new jobs and increase production forces. A new, fourth shift team of employees is already being formed in the most modern mayonnaise, sauce and ketchup workshop of the Kėdainiai Canning Factory. The new team will be trained to work with modern equipment, so the most important requirement for those who want to work here is not to be afraid of equipment and technology and simply be ready to learn. Of course, the salaries here are much higher than those paid to people who work in unskilled jobs, although, to be honest, even these people have not been able to complain about their salaries for a long time.

Lithuanian mayonnaise is one of the tastiest in the world

When asked why the Kėdainiai Canning Factory (KKF) needed to produce so much mayonnaise that the factory will soon have to work non-stop, its CEO Saulius Urbonas laughs: "Love happened!" Both Lithuanians and foreigners fell in love with the mayonnaise we make and loved it so much that we no longer manage to make as much as they eat! Lithuanian mayonnaise is one of the tastiest in the world."

Soon, S. Urbonas adds that the need for mayonnaise production increased by supplying this product to such large foreign trade chains as "Biedronka" and "ALDI", not to mention all the other smaller ones. In addition, in Lithuania both mayonnaise and other products produced by KKF are also very popular with customers and are among the leading brands.

It is estimated that in the last five years alone, KKF's mayonnaise production has increased by 150 percent, sauce production by 50 percent.

The factory constantly invests in technology and business development, improving people's working conditions.

Saulius Urbonas, CEO of Kėdainiai canning factory: "We strive to be sustainable, and sustainability also includes the attitude towards the person who works in the company, caring for that person. It is very important for us that our employees are satisfied with their work, the company, especially since we prepare food for other people."

Soon Norway will no longer be needed?

KKF manager S. Urbonas hopes that if the factory team led by him succeeds in achieving all the ideas at the pace as planned, soon there will be no more people going to Norway or other countries to earn money.

"Our factory already has a good motivational system. Each person earns not only a salary, but also supplements to it, which depend both on personal efforts and on the work of the entire shift.

We pay extra for the quantities of production, so our people try and help each other while working in shifts, thus creating a good and friendly microclimate, which is very important when working in a team and achieving good results.

Even now, our employees, having evaluated everything, calculate that it is not worth it for them to go abroad to earn money, and if we all do better every year, then the situation will change even more", S. Urbonas is convinced.

Salaries are competitive, working conditions are good

In the new shift of the KKF mayonnaise, sauces and ketchup workshop, an equipment adjuster, an operator-production worker, a product cook, a forklift driver and a product loader will also be employed.

A raw material weigher and other specialists are selected and transferred to this shift for permanent work from seasonal workers who came to the factory to work and who are very willing to stay here and who are able to learn to work with the equipment.

There is no doubt that the jobs of the missing workers will also be filled soon, as the salary offered is very competitive and the working conditions are good. Not only the workplaces of the employees near the production lines are modern here, but also the lounge area with comfortable beanbags and, of course, coffee.

Our factory already has a good motivational system. Each person earns not only a salary, but also supplements to it, which depend both on personal efforts and on the work of the entire shift.

S. Urbonas

"It seems to me that the most important thing is that there is no stress here. Every employee is trained, everyone works in a team and is supported by colleagues who work together.

We strive to be sustainable, and sustainability includes the attitude towards the person who works in the company, caring for that person. It is very important for us that our employees are satisfied with their work, company, especially since we prepare food for other people.

Of course, the shift work schedule has to be suitable for the people who work here. Does working like this make you tired? Then maybe you should ask in a different way – what kind of work, if you do it sincerely, is tireless? Only, of course, each job gets tired differently," says S. Urbonas.

When asked when the factory will already increase the planned capacity and produce mayonnaise and sauces around the clock, S. Urbonas just smiles: "And it only depends on the people – how soon the new employees we have hired will learn to work with the equipment." Technology and equipment are not everything, people are everything."
