The influx of immigrants increases demand for peas in Europe. This makes Ukraine happy

Napływ imigrantów wzmaga popyt na groch w Europie. Cieszy to Ukrainę

Europe needs more and more peas due to the inflow of large numbers of migrants from Arab and Asian countries – we read on the Ukrainian website Latifundist. The EU market looks very promising for Ukrainian producers, who will be happy to change their export directions.

These conclusions come from the statements of Onur Vatan, director of EU-Nomia LTD, an international holding company operating in Ukraine, which is engaged in the production, processing and sale of cereals, oilseeds and legumes.

-Due to the migration of inhabitants of eastern countries to Europe, the demand for peas in the EU is increasing. Therefore, this market promises to be very promising for Ukrainian producers, says the director of EU-Nomia in an interview with the Ukrainian portal. -The European market is growing every day.

Legumes are on top

Increased migration to the EU from Arab countries, Africa and Asia inevitably increases the demand for legumes. These include peas, peas, lentils and chickpeas, which are very important in the diet of the peoples of the Orient and Africa. According to an expert on Latifundist, the increase in the consumption of these plants in Europe was noticed by producers from Ukraine, associated in the Association of Legumes of Ukraine, as well as producers in other countries outside the EU.

However, as Onur Vatan said, Ukraine is already prepared to supply peas to Europe. For this purpose, for example, his company built a yellow pea processing plant in Tarnopol. The technological level of the factory gives the company a guarantee that it can obtain a European certificate for trading in peas and it intends to apply for it. Previously, EU-Nomia exported peas to distant Asian countries, South Africa and the Persian Gulf countries. Now it has decided to develop the European market.

A safe niche

Producers in Ukraine believe that the production of legumes and export to the European market is a safe niche, because the EU authorities are unlikely to introduce export restrictions. Unlike cereals, the market for peas is less capricious, and producers have not lost much in recent years by expanding the area of cultivation. A particular incentive for such decisions was the abolition of customs duties on peas imported by India.
