The law states that the sale of such drinks to minors is prohibited to prevent effects on their health. According to the new introductions, the seller will have the right to demand from the buyer a document allowing him to establish his age. If the seller has doubts about the buyer’s age (if he does not have a document), then he has the right to refuse the purchase. Regions will be able to set their own restrictions on the time and place of sale of non-alcoholic tonic drinks.
The bill has been discussed in parliament since January 2024. In May, the government approved the document with the condition of revision. Russian regions previously regulated the age limit for the sale of energy drinks themselves.
