The Entertainer reveals top toy trends for January 2025

The Entertainer has unveiled its key toy trends for January 2025, providing a look into shoppers’ preferences for the year ahead.

The British toy retailer saw a 49% rise in sales of “pocket money” items, within the sub-£10 price range.

The most popular toy of the month was its singular Hot Wheels toy cars, which start at £2.40 each. It also saw strong demand for licensed toys related to action film releases, such as Jurassic World, Minecraft and Captain America.

There was also a boost in sales of toys that “spark happiness,” with plush products, such as Squishmallows, performing strongly.

Meanwhile, families sought out “cheerful products” to combat the January blues, with brightly coloured toys, like Bibi Chibis, being particularly popular with 4 to 11 year olds.

Likewise, the toy giant witnessed a surge in game sales, with its Rubik’s Cubes, Pictionary and Uno retaining their spot within its top 10 best-selling games.

Meanwhile, The Traitors board game saw sales soar over the past month, as the third season of the TV show aired on the BBC.

Earlier this month, The Entertainer named John Lewis veteran Mark Robinson as its new chief operating officer, with the executive taking over its supply chain, IT and transformation operations.

Robinson joins in March from his current position as managing director of Wincanton TechCo.
