- From July 1 to December 31, 2024, the electricity bill for a household whose annual consumption does not exceed 2 MWh will increase by PLN 27.5 net per month.
- In practice, this means that the cost of electricity in a household whose annual consumption does not exceed 2 MWh will increase by PLN 33.8 gross per month (PLN 27.5 net). Within half a year, we will pay as much as PLN 202.8 gross (approx. PLN 165 net) to our current bill if we save electricity.
- Let's not forget that also from July 1 this year. the legislator introduced a new, one-off cash benefit – Energy Voucher. Support will be intended for approximately 3.5 million households with lower incomes. This should partially alleviate the increase in electricity bills.

Why will your household electricity bill increase from mid-2024?
The total amount of the electricity bill includes: the costs of energy purchase and the costs of its distribution (transport). This second component of the bill will be unfreezed from July 1, which means that the fee for energy supply will increase from PLN 289/MWh to PLN 430/MWh.

At the same time, this fee will be charged in the second half of this year. will be reduced by the so-called the capacity fee rate, which in 2024 for households ranges from PLN 2.66 to PLN 14.9 net per month (the rate is a lump sum and its amount depends on the annual electricity consumption of a given customer). The capacity fee until December 31, 2024 will be PLN 0.
From July 1, 2024, we will enter into the mechanism of gradual unfreezing of energy sales prices for households. The situation on the raw material markets (coal, gas) is clearly stabilizing, which translates into lower long-term volatility of wholesale electricity prices, which in turn has a positive impact on electricity prices – said Rafał Gawin, President of the Energy Regulatory Office. – There is therefore no justification for continuing to maintain frozen, non-market price rates for electricity and gas.

The above means that from July 1 to December 31, 2024, the electricity bill for a household whose annual consumption does not exceed 2 MWh will increase by PLN 27.5 net per month. How to calculate it and what does it mean? The simplified explanation was presented by the Energy Regulatory Office in a graphic.

The net increase indicated above is PLN 27.46, in gross terms it is PLN 33.8/month . At the same time, nearly 90 percent electricity consumers in households use the G11 tariff group, in which the average annual consumption is 1.8 MWh. For households with such consumption, the monthly bill increase will not exceed PLN 30 gross – said Rafał Gawin, President of the Energy Regulatory Office.
An energy voucher for lower-income households will reduce the steep electricity price increase
Also, from July 1, the legislator introduced a new, one-off cash benefit – Energy Voucher. Support will be intended for approximately 3.5 million households with lower incomes.
There will be two income thresholds: up to PLN 2,500 for single-person households and up to PLN 1,700 per person for multi-person households.
The amount of the voucher will depend on the number of people in the household:
- PLN 300 for single-person households,
- PLN 400 for two-three-person rooms,
- PLN 500 for four-five-person rooms,
- PLN 600 for six-person and larger rooms.
Additionally, households using electricity to heat their homes will receive a voucher twice as high (from PLN 600 to PLN 1,200). This special aid results from the fact that households that use electricity-powered heating sources have the highest bills.
