The court declares bankruptcy of a Polish brewery with traditions. Until recently, it was a shining example

  • The District Court of Gdańsk-Północ, by its decision of 18 July 2024, declared the bankruptcy of the Browar Kościerzyna company and called on the brewery's creditors to report their receivables to the trustee (Krzysztof Lipiński).

– The District Court of Gdańsk-Północ in Gdańsk, 6th Commercial Division, ul. Piekarnicza 10, 80-126 Gdańsk, announces that by the decision of July 18, 2024, issued in the case of declaring bankruptcy of the debtor, Browar Kościerzyna spółka z ograniczoną odpowiedzialnością, decided to declare bankruptcy of the debtor – we read in the court decision.

Less than a month later, the District Court of Gdańsk-Północ in Gdańsk announced that the decision issued on July 18, 2024 is final and binding as of August 17, 2024.

Bankruptcy of the Kościerzyna Brewery. A place with traditions

The Kościerzyna Brewery is a combination of history and tradition with modern technology. Its reconstruction cost a huge amount of money.

– The brewery has a fermentation room and a storage room. The brewery buildings are located on both sides of the street. In the southern part, on Słodowa Street, there is a granary, a coach house, and the owner's house. The malt house also has a characteristic 16-meter fireman's chimney, along with a steel windbreak in the shape of an angel. On the northern side, on Miodowa Street, the Old Brewery has a boiler room, a pressing plant with a warehouse, and an ice storage facility. The ice is mainly obtained from the nearby Kapliczne Lake – we read in the description of the complex.

The Kościerzyna Brewery produces the following types of beers: lager, wheat, red lager, dark, IPA and pils.

History of the Kościerzyna Brewery

The Kościerzyna Brewery is a business that has gained a second life.

In 1948, it was transformed into a carbonated water bottling plant, and then into a mead factory. In 1998, it officially ceased its operations. In 2010, the investor decided to revive the brewery. It reopened in 2013. At that time, a pub was opened where beer was brewed, a hotel, a restaurant, a pizzeria, and a shopping center. In 2017, the main brewhouse was built.
