Every year on the last Sunday of June, Belarus celebrates Youth and Students Day. Therefore, specialists from the job search site rabota.by conducted a survey among 1,506 users and found out at what age, in their opinion, teenagers should start working and what professions are most suitable for boys and girls.
To begin with, respondents were asked to remember at what age they got their first job or part-time job. According to the survey results, many began working after they came of age (37.9%) – in the period from 18 to 23 years. At the same time, almost a quarter voted for starting their career from 15 to 17 years old.
At the same time, respondents named the period from 14 to 16 years as the most suitable age for a first job. More than 60% of survey participants voted for this answer option.
Additionally, it is worth noting that 68.2% of all survey participants have children. And of these, more than every second indicated the child’s age was from 12 to 17 years (54.9%). Therefore, they were additionally asked to answer questions regarding their children’s desire to find a part-time job. As a result, 78.7% of respondents said that their children showed an independent desire to find a job.
The most popular reasons for this decision were the desire to have more personal money and independent income for the thing that the child has long dreamed of.

- merchandiser;
- animator;
- packer;
- promoter;
- waiter;
- window or car cleaner;
- cleaning specialist.
